Terms and Conditions

For all Courses:

RIDE MTS will endeavour to make your training as safe and enjoyable as possible. However, there is always a small element of risk in connection with the use of any motor vehicle, which cannot be totally eliminated. Unlike a car, your instructor can have no direct control over your vehicle and ultimately it is your responsibility to ride safely. With this in mind you must comply with the following:

  • Ensure that you are, and remain, fit to train. Only you know your physical and mental condition.

  • You must not be over tired, injured, or suffering from any ailment, which could affect your riding.

  • You must not have taken any drugs and or alcohol, which may affect your ability to ride.

  • You must inform your instructor if there are any problems in this respect or if any occur during the day.

  • You must ensure that you have adequate breaks, drinks and food and that you are properly clothed.

  • Only you will know if you are fit to continue.

Prior to any course you will need to provide a licence check code and a picture of your drivers licence, so RIDE MTS can ensure that you have correct entitlements and hold a valid licence to undertake motorbike training.

If this is not received when requested, then your course will not be able to go ahead.

PRE course information

It is highly advisable that before undertaking any course that you are as prepared as possible. Prior to a course the learner Must at the least have read and understood the latest edition of the highway code.

RIDE MTS and its instructors reserve the right to terminate any course where it is of the opinion that the Student does not have sufficient knowledge and understanding of the Highway Code. Under these circumstances no refund of any fees will be given.

RIDE MTS advice is and recommends that prior to any of our courses (especially aimed at the newer road users who are more vulnerable than most) to read the following:

The official “DVSA guide to learning to ride”

The official “DVSA guide to riding - the essential skills”

All of the above are aimed at helping to stay safe whilst out on the roads and give you prior understanding of what you are expected to know as a road user!

Suitable Clothing

Trainees taking part in any training courses must wear suitable clothing that offers reasonable protection to both limit the risk of injury and limit the effects of the weather on your person.

You may be new to biking and may not yet have your own motorcycle equipment or realise the importance of wearing appropriate clothing.

You must attend with an approved road legal helmet, Sturdy jacket, motorbike gloves and as a minimum you must be wearing at least unripped jeans and sturdy footwear that go above the ankle.

Attending in unsuitable clothing may result in the practical riding elements of your course being cancelled and you will need to rebook at additional expense.

CBT training

You have a choice at the time of booking to do your Compulsory Basic Training (CBT) either on a manual (geared) or automatic motorbike.

However, as a road safety organisation it is our job to ensure the safety of both our trainees and the general public. To learn to ride a manual (geared) motorcycle is no easy task; even if you are an experienced car driver, a motorcycle is a completely different vehicle, which in turn, requires you to perform a range of unique skills such as balance, throttle control, higher levels of concentration, ability to deal with the exposure to varying weather conditions and wind, combination of foot and hand controls, etc.

If you are a novice rider, with no previous recent experience on a manual bike, and if your expectation is to complete your Compulsory Basic Training (CBT) within the same day, we highly recommend you consider a pre cbt course. Consisting of 2-3 hours on bike training at £40ph to give you the best chance possible of reaching the required safe standard.

All mopeds/motorcycles are hired to the student by RIDE MTS. Damage to a moped/motorcycle caused by the student under £20.00 then parts and labour are not charged. The student must pay for any damage more than £20.00, before further training can continue, to RIDE MTS. Parts are charged at retail price inc. V.A.T. Labour is charged at £35.00 per hour.

During your course with RIDE MTS. You will need to complete all elements of the course to a safe standard to achieve the CBT certificate.
